T-Mobile Huddle Up Teams Give Back to the Community
T-Mobile and the NFHS support student participation in community service events throughout the year as part of education-based interscholastic programs. The T-Mobile Huddle Up initiative, as part of the T-Mobile Invitational, gives students, coaches, and T-Mobile employees an exceptional opportunity to give back to the tournament host community.
T-Mobile Huddle Up is T-Mobile USA's community outreach program that connects kids in high-need urban communities to positive people, places, and programs. This one-day community service project is designed to improve facilities where after-school programming takes place in a local Albuquerque school or community center.
The 2007 T-Mobile Invitational was an exciting weekend of teamwork and community service. For the second year, players and coaches participated in a T-Mobile Huddle Up service day, giving back to the tournament host city. Nearly 150 local T-Mobile employees joined the student athletes and coaches from around the country to transform Albuquerque's McKinley Middle School. Participants worked side by side to paint inspirational murals, build benches, and create a T-Mobile Huddle Up Zone, a dedicated after-school space for kids to use for studying and socializing. Thanks to the work of more than 300 enthusiastic volunteers, Albuquerque youth will have a more positive environment to enjoy both during and after school.
